Kavenid Warfleet Experimental Rules

Hi!

The first draft of the Kavenid Warfleet experimental rules to be used with the GRAVETIDES Beta rules is complete!

The rules describe the vessel of Kavenid, one of the first of the ancient realms of GRAVETIDES to turn itself into a Necrorealm to escape from the unrelenting Defiler assimilation.

Kavenidian admirals are hosted on mighty Drifting Mausoleums, vessels created out of the carcasses of giant abyssal fishes or other marine creatures and fueled by the magical energy of the captured phylacteries of enemy Liches.

Drifting Mausoelum are accompanied in battle by the ghostly Corpeships, revenant vessels composed by the debries of sunk warships held together by the souls of the sailors of their former crews.

Squadrons of bizzarre Bonerammers and sailing Dreadships with their complementary offensive abilities round up the Kavenidian warfleet.

The models of the four Kavenidian warships were the subject of our Kickstarter and the Ship Cards collecting their gaming stats are included with the rules.

Download the Kavenid experimental rules, the main GRAVETIDES rules and all is need to try the game from our Beta Rules page.

On the subject of the general GRAVETIDES project we hope to launch a new Kickstarter for the models of the Nadvidian warfleet and be able to work with more continuity on producing other fleets models and producing a final version of the main rules and of at least a couple of factions.

In the next post we will try to offer stats and rules for using fleets from the most venerale of the naval fantasy wargames in order to allow existing players to try the GRAVETIDES rules and possibly collect valuable feedback from experienced gamers.

As usual, stay tuned !

Another GRAVETIDES rules update

Hi!

This new GRAVETIDES Beta Rules update incorporates enough revisions to justify a version update from 7.2 to 8.0.

The main areas of revisions include:

  • ships manoeuvrability rules
  • officers quality ranking and its effects on crews
  • raking fire rules
  • some text polishing

This latest version is also based on suggestions and observations we have received that have greatly helped us to debug rule points that eluded us during play test and to better some poor writing.

Keep them coming to help us writing a better fantasy naval wargame.

Thanks a lot and, as usual, stay tuned !

GRAVETIDES Beta Rules Update

Hi!

The GRAVETIDES Beta Rules have been updated to Version 7.2.

Download this new release from the Beta Rules page.

This version incorporates some tweaks and addition due to recent playtesting including the Wind Compass redesign and among others some Anchoring and Repair rules clarifications.

Work continues on the experimental rules for the Kavenid Undead warfleet as well as on GRAVETIDES conversions for some fleet the most venerable of all naval fantasy wargames in order to allow old-time players to try GRAVETIDES rules.

Nadvidian Warfleet Experimental Rules

Hi!

We have just completed a draft of the experimental list for the Nadvidian Warfleet containing the descriptions and gaming rules for all the four Frost Necroreges vessels: the gargantuan Glacier Fortress, the Frozen Galley, the bizzarre Stormbarge and the Hailstone Mortar.

A first draft of the fleet composition is already present while points costs for each warship are still to be defined.

The main GRAVETIDES Beta rules version has been upped to V7.1 to acknowledge for some small additions and rephrasing of some paragraphs.

Find all the new and updated files in the GRAVETIDES Beta rules page.

At last…

…we managed to get the Nadvidian Frozen Galley model correctly printed !

Getting this last model printed make us just one step away from having the Nadvidian fleet traditionally cast in resin ready for a new GRAVETIDES Kickstarter (or something different, we’ll see).

A dedicated page for the GRAVETIDES Wargaming Beta Rules has been added to the site, with Special Rules and Ship Cards detailing the characteristics and powers of each of the Frost Necroreges warships coming soon.

As usual, thanks for watching and Stay Tuned !

THE BETA RULES

Hi!

Sorry for taking so long to make a new post but the 3D printing of the last Nadvidian ship, the Frozen Galley, is taking much more than planned to be produced.

Even while struggling with this last model, work on the GRAVETIDES Rules has continued and we have now managed to finalise what we consider to be a publishable set of Beta Rules.

“Beta” means that the main body of the rules, after many many adjustments, has been written and that preliminary play testing, mainly in solitary game sessions, has been carried out.

Much work is still to be done on Fleet Lists (composition, Points Costs, etc.), Spell Lists and corollary rules like flyers and sea monsters.

Updates to the main rules and details (such as Ship Cards and Special Rules) about specific GRAVETIDES fleets will will be published as they become available.

If interested please have a read of the rules or even better give them a try (we have included in the zip everything that is needed) and direct any comments, suggestions and constructive criticism in the comments or to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ResInAere/)

We’ll be “on holidays” throughout August to be back working on GRAVETIDES to complete the models of the Frost Necroreges fleet and to publish new posts during the first half of September.

In the meantime….best Summer Holidays!!

Hailstorm Approaching…

Hi!

We are now able to post some photos of the newly printed Hailstone Mortar models.

The warships took a couple of prints before being finalised as we have realised that what appears on the screen of the digital sculpting tool does not always translate well on the printed model.

The sails are now a single piece, the mast has been thickened and some details modified with an eye to the final resin casting of the model.

Note that the pictured models are fresh from the 3D printer and yet to be polished and primed.

Read more about the devastating Hailstone Mortars and the other ships of the fleet of the Nadvidian Frost Necroreges here.

A Printed Fortress

Hi!

This weekend we managed to do a new print of the Nadvidian Admiral ship: the mighty Glacier Fortress.

This time we printed the model with the proportions we had in mind.

See the photos for a comparison with a ruler and one of the Storm Barges we have produced during our last 3D printing session.

We will be back soon with prints of more Frost Necroreges vessels.

The Chain Bolter

The Alchemical Necroreges fleet is now complete!

From the center of the metal dome dominating the deck of these small warships rises a diminutive version of the gigantic lightning rod around which Bolt Barges are constructed.

Navigating as a squadron the Chain Bolters can stretch among them lighting arcs powerful enough to damage or put on fire enemy ship traversing their path.

The Chain Bolters rods can discharge their energy at a long distance sustaining its flow for a time long enough to give a temporary tactical advantage to the war fleet of the Necralchemists.

Due to the limited charge stored by their accumulators Chain Bolters are usually deployed in proximity of a Great Operator to be recharged and continue to navigate and fire their weapons.

Besides the necessity of Chain Bolters to act together, akin to other Neghorrethian vessels their main weakness is the possible loss of the Necralchemist controlling their releases of the energy turning these vessels into useless hindrances for the rest of the fleet.
